I’ve been interested in self release snatch blocks recently though never been exposed to them. I found a set of pics of a homemade one but haven’t quite figured out how it works. I think it just “derails” the cable. The post said it was made from an old 4 lug hub from a front wheel drive car or trailer with a pulley welded to it with the supporting frame made of bar stock laying around. I want one to play with but not at the upper end of 3-400 bucks! Thoughts? Lenny Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, when the end hook or sliders for log chokers reach it they can’t stay on due to the lower profile on one side. Awful handy for winching around corners (trees). Also for pulling over a snag without pulling it onto yourself.
Mine has a spring loaded tab that helps keep the cable in place until you get tension on it. It easily rotates out of the way on release.
Oh man......I started reading about the Canadian woodlots and no page 28, how will I ever sleep......
