Good lob Woodsnwoods, good pics too. That first one sure had a gnarly looking top. Those ants are bad news too.
Tractor and chainsaws cutting down some future BTU's with pictures to boot. Definitely deserves a like.
Nice work, glad everything went well. Like the winch on the back of the JD. Hope to score some beech after hunting season. Big one blew down a year or so ago on my cousin's property next door.
Excellent! We have an issue with the Beech trees up north. There were quite a few in the woods behind our place about 10 years ago when we bought it. Now, most have died. Many standing dead trees that the wind eventually takes down.
Some good pics. It is good to cut that dead stuff out or else mother nature might do it for you. Good job.
We had a bunch of old ones that died. I started cutting one up thinking I had a bonanza and it was all soft inside. Worthless. There were about 18 trees on a hill all dead. Sad sight considering the potential value as firewood if they had been harvested soon enough.
Videos seemed way better in my mind. I purposely omitted myself just in case....I will have to work on this since I am not cutting 80 plus foot tall beech trees with a phone in my hand.
Woodsnwood, I see you run your 461 with a 20" and a 28". Do you prefer the the balance better with the 20". I'm thinking about switching bars on my 460 and considering a 20" or 25". Only problem is I already have a good 25" b/c and would need to buy a new 20". I don't need to go longer as I have other saw's with longer bars.
Prefer the balance with the 20, and I use this saw as my primary so it is more convenient. I put a big bar on the 880 for the 24 plus inch logs.
