Knocked out another rebuild/refurbish. This porch/deck has weathered the storms for 30yrs. It was time. Sanded all the rails/posts down to new new wood. Installed new decking. Just used fir 2x6. Cut an opposing rabbet on the edges to create a shiplap joint. Caulked them as I put them together so the deck is water tight. That created a new storage area underneath. Nice. A little touch up paint and a "door" for the storage area and can move on to the next project.
justdraftn A nice, sanitary rebuild. I Like it! Projects like that don't drag on forever and give a large satisfaction beyond their size!
That is so true. I enjoy it every time I go out now.... as opposed to worrying about when is this going to get rebuilt.
