So in addressing a previous foundation issue, I am planning a retaining wall.
There quite a bit of blocks and the like to buy for a good heavy wall.

I tend toward something that I can buy/scrounge piecemeal, over the cost of hiring out a poured foundation. So a block wall or those big huge cement blocks (to include renting equipment to move them), or rammed earth walls, are options.

Has any one here cast their own blocks out of concrete or other like material?

These are Allen Block made by Nitterhouse in Chambersburg, Pa. They sell seconds for half price.
Cheapest way I've found to build a stable retaining wall that will not fall over.

Like the textured front. Much nicer than regular cmu!
    Wall looks real good.
Ballpark, what does that go for a pallet delivered?

That was last fall and I suffer from CRS. Around $5-6 per block picked up.
    They will load with forklift.
That was seconds, the perfect ones are more than double that plus delivery.

Yes, but each block is 144 sq in as apposed to standard block at 128 sq in.
No mortar, rebar or concrete fill. Just dry set and fill with gravel. You can get 6 degree or 12 degree slope back.
Gravel backfill with drainage pipe and you can stack em high. Bring your back brace tho 75 lbs a piece.
I think my biggest was 22' high and then put a warehouse beside it. Still standin after 20 couple years...:smoke:
