Hello It is a Kitchen aid and says the water filter needs replacement. It made load grinding noise so something must be wrong. There was no ice left in the bin. So I removed and replaced the water filter. It looks like a # 2 charcoal filter. So I replaced it and purged out the air bubbles by running the cool water into a glass. No ice making that I could hear or see. The next morning I was sitting on the couch and I heard the familiar ker plunk sound of ice falling into the bucket. It took all day but we now have a full bucket of ice. Why would there be no ice when the water still comes out? At least I know now but why?

We have filtered water going into the refrigerator Do you know where I can buy the bypass for the # 2 kitchenaid water filter and be done with it?
Double solenoid fill valve. I sell lots of valves and ice makers. That bypass plug is for the #4 filter, which is a Maytag carry over after Whirlpool bought them out. Whirlpool doesn't offer bypass plugs other than the one for #4
Your water line that hooks to house supply is going straight into the filter housing. From there it goes into the valve, and then 1 line goes to I/M, the other to water dispenser via the chilled water "tank" which is a coil of 1/4 tubing usually. Then out to dispenser
The manufacturer doesn't offer one. They only make one for the #4 which is a Maytag carry over. You could get a John Guest fitting and bypass the filter housing.
