A couple months ago a decent sized (?18-20" diam) red oak fell over our fence. Luckily, it wedged between a double trunk beech tree so the fencing sustained only minor damage so I didn't have to deal with it right away. Today I finally got started cleaning it up. I put several tanks of fuel through my trusty Jred CS2139T limbing. With a sharp chain and 12" bar this is a very light and very strong unit. I'll be breaking out the bigger saws tomorrow to deal with the main trunks. Should make some high quality BTU's.
Love red oak. Sounds like fun, enjoy the day. Supposed to be about 80 tomorrow. I took a vaca day for some 2 wheel therapy.
I saw that forecast. Not ideal for late October. I took M-Th vacation time this week and have made a good dent in the to-do list.
Great when they land in a good harvesting position. Dontcha wish they all did? Nice little saw. Ive been using my Stihl 194T with a 12" bar as well and love the little guy. Some smaller BL i used it on.
Started making red oak rounds today. Fence popped right back like nothing happened here. The top of the beech did a little more damage, but should be o.k. Quality, high-tensile, fixed-knot fencing is definitely worthwhile. The Kubota was very helpful ensuring the safety of me and the fence as I extracted the logs and debris.
