A project in the works for a bit now. As you can see, I needed to replace some skids that had rotted away over the years. Opted to use some blocks to raise the skids and extend their life a bit.

These skids came from our place in the flatlands. Ironically enough, the skids were from pellet deliveries over the last few years.

I cut the hardwood last fall. I have a neighbor who is unloading log length wood just up the road. Hardwood is lighter in color. The darker (seasoned) stuff is pine. Hope to cut more hardwood soon and get ahead a season or two.

I donated the punky stuff to our forest up back.

It was a great weekend to split, stack and reorganize!

Lookin gooder there...I moved some stacks around today too.
Might wanna add another block in the middle of each pallet...I did just what you are doing and I had trouble with the pallet stringers breaking...not right away, but in the spring, after that first winter...broke. :picard: :hair:
    Lotta weight there...

I still don't like stacking on pallets. Works much better for me just to cut a couple saplings or young trees and stack on those.

That’s a good idea. And not an expensive solution.
