It seems if we are in the 40s, one bag of pellets will last me the day or 24 hours. If we are in the 30s, it will last between 12-16 hours. But when we drop in the 20s, it's a bag every 8-12 hours. Yes this depends on size of the house, the pellet fuel being burned, and the quality of insulation among other things. But in my configuration, that's about my burn rate. You?
on a side note, ever since my Ignitor IMPLODED...i have been using room manual mode... lot more steady heat and i don't really see much increase in pellet use. new ignitor back in but thinking of staying with room manual thruout the cold times. maybe.. yes. i'm the one that has to get a new board this week.
2 bags in 24 hours is only about 28,000 BTU/hr so that's quite efficient. Only 1 bag per day would be 1/2 of that. My boiler uses 4 bags per day and 5 if it's really cold.
With a little help from the mini split 1 bag a day on low or 1 1/2 bags on med when it's below 20 degrees .
Mine varies widely depending upon wind conditions and how much sun the house gets. Last week it was in the low 40's daytime, with abundant sunshine and I didn't even use 1 bag between both stoves. If it had been windy and/or heavy overcast, I would have easily hit 1.5-2 bags. This year we haven't seen extreme cold, or even much wind for that matter, but for negative-temp nights and single-digit days, I would hit 1.5 (or more if very windy) bags per stove a day. Most days the last couple of weeks, with single-digit temp nights and daytime temps high teens to mid 20's, I'm around a bag per stove.
We haven't had any real cold here, so haven't used as much as in some of the past years and from November to the end of January had only used 40, 45 & 46 bags for each month (averaging just under a bag a day between the 2 stoves). However, a by-the-day usage can vary a lot. Lately it has been about 2 bags a day - but that may be smoothed over by sunny and warm days this weekend (ad a couple of weekends ago). I don't think I have gone over 3 bags/day at any point for a couple of years.
Similar experience here, although I won't burn more than 2 bags a day on principle. Weather generally doesn't get cold enough to warrant it anyway, but if it did - I'd put a sweater on.
