I hear so much about Ash on here it’s found here butI believe it’s a different kind. Mountain Ash. I don’t know the name for yours. Nice score!
No the 50 acre has alot of dead standing red oak, last couple trees from there read 16%. This is a lady with 2 acres and some ash and storm trees
I’m not certain but I believe the ash around me is green ash. I wouldn’t know the difference between any of them. I just know the stuff around here is good firewood
Ya the white here makes the most beautiful barkless firewood, so pretty you hate burning it. Im filling the indoor wood rack with it at the end of winter so i can stare at it all summer
Delivered a cord of wood and had time for a Late red oak drop at the 40 acre spot. Wind was whipping a cool 20 degrees across the field had to be single digits with the wind. Owner came out and was like so you just want dead standing and storm wood, i said for now thats what customers need. Oh so in the spring take whatever trees you want. Ahh ok!! Above the roof of my truck theres sick Ash trees that he wants gone. Woo hoo
Thank you Molly, people are so desperate for real firewood and they are loving all my posts on Facebook with pics of the trees i cut and moisture readings.
Ahh finally caught up just delivered the last cord of being behind 5. And then the guy says hey Chris ill take a third
Brought 3 piles out to the edge of the field, ash and maple. Got home and split it up, got a third. Going back tomorrow for a dry maple standing up. Good size, bark shedding
Tried the sled at the Sweet Ash spot, took down a beautiful barkless white. Got reminded why you always look up too. As she was goin down the top clipped a pine branch and broke off a 6 foot piece throwing back at me fortunately good clear escape route to safety. After that I took the boy with me to the 40 acre spot and took a real nice dead standing maple. Kamo helped load the truck, he’s turning into a little workhorse. It helps that he gets $2 bucks to help throw brush off the field and then when we got home he feeds me logs from the front of the bed when i cant reach. He said to me he wanted to make clones of himself to do the work and make money while he sits in the truck and plays video games. 6 years old he’s getting to be pretty hilarious. We had a good laugh when he was pulling brush backwards and forgot the tree was laying behind him and fell backwards, good thing for the snowy cushion. When that customer told me Sunday afternoon he wanted a third cord i went rt to work then and Monday after work. I cut the trees brought them home split em and got my cord in 5 1/2 hours. Minus a few bucks in gas thats a good hourly rate at $300 a cord OH! I almost forgot $4 bucks to my hired help who I think when i bring home the cash Will get another couple bucks incentive bonus. Then I have to give upper management her cut so after that I dont know what I will do with my $5 Fourth pic down you can see the sled halfway up from the tree laying down. Its a good 60 yd haul up a slight hill. Thats just a kids sled, i think one of those ice sleds would be better ( not as tippy)
Love your pics, thanks for taking so many. Kamo is a lucky boy, learning how to work hard from his dad, who he clearly adores.
One of the field pics you can see Kamo (Kameron) or as my buddy calls him Mr. O’ flauge far away sledding because i was dropping the tree. I know you guys find every detail in pics lol
I cant say it enough how much i love that white ash. As im splitting it into piles it sounds like im throwing bowling pins. 15% and the maple was 16% after an hour inside by the stove.
