Had this ash leaning towards the house and right next to septic tank. Will make some nice splits. It’s been attacked by EAB but actually still in pretty good shape compared to other ash on the property. Wonder if previous owners had it treated. Either way it’s headed to the stacks(or I guess I should say piles) as I haven’t had a chance to build and stack anything yet. Had my helper out today, he made short work of a big log with his 8” bar! Man do I need a grapple for the tractor! Not looking forward to brush cleanup.

Wow! :bug: A living ash tree! getting to be a rare sight these days. The skeleton dead ones in varying degrees of decay a common sight.

Some primo wood there for sure and yes those big logs are not fun to process.

That looks to be in very good condition. Dang, we had so many of those once upon a time.

Yup, that's a real good looking ash right there. And in fairly good shape, too.

Mine have been perfectly ripened on the vine from EAB, so I've been taking them down all summer. The bark falls off in huge chunks, and I could probably burn them as soon as I've split them. I'm eyeing two which I'll get in maybe the next month... they're as big as yours. Definitely will get some pics and post 'em up.

I’m willing to bet they had this one treated as it was a tree close to the house that looked like it was taken care of. All the rest of the ash on the property is long gone. This one has been infected also just not that far along yet.

Got everything cleaned up and split today. I’d bet about 1.5 face cord. The bigguns sucked but spilts from them add up fast.
