Hi guys. A few years ago my neighbor gave me his old Husqvarna 125R trimmer from the 90's I think. It's a beast. Had old fuel, but was able to dump the fuel, add fresh, and it ran. Don't use it much - I keep a saw blade on it for brush clean up. Late last year, it had a hard time starting and this year no start. The carb is a Walbro WYK-10D. I was going to put in a carb kit, but I just had to replace the carb on my newer Shindaiwa trimmer and I found an aftermarket carb for about $12 shipped and it works great. It is not the same model carb, is a bit smaller than the WYK-10D, but it seems to match up exactly with the Husqvarna intake. Any harm in giving this aftermarket carb a shot? I'm asking because I can't find a WYK-10D carb for less than about $60 (OEM) for about $35 aftermarket. Mainly thinking there may be differences in the jets which won't allow the Husqvarna to run properly. Hoping MasterMech is out there on this one! Thanks! Cheers!
As long as it gets proper crankcase impulse and does not create any air leaks, I see no harm in giving it a shot. Perhaps measure the Venturi diameter to make sure it will not limit performance too much.
