What in the name of all that is holy is this?
theres a fungus among us! Ive seen it growing on my logs before. Seems to prefer certain species. One reason i always liked making firewood in the cold. No bugs or micro organisms/fungus etc. to attach to it. Ive cut logs and within a day or two the sapwood has something growing on it!
Looks like an ink blot test.....I see a butterfly on the top right one
Rorschach test, I see it too.
Yes. Fungus. Don't worry about it. Even fungus has BTUs.
My poplar all looks like that this year, except white, and more of it. Even the stuff that was cut last year and was under cover.
What are you seasoning the wood with ? Usually Lemon Pepper will do that...
Just don't the end of the splits and you should be fine!!
It's either a crime scene or purple mold
Thanks for the responses guys, even the funny ones .
They are sitting stacked in a covered and relatively aerated place. Just wanted to make sure they weren't starting to rot on me. It's getting pretty cold up here in Canada so i assume it wont live for very long. Unfortunately, skunks still do, those poor dogs of mine got a good taste of them.
