Here we go, one weekend of winter. Forecasting single digits below zero with 15-30 mph winds in Central CT . I see -20's and wind in north country.

Cleaned the stove this afternoon, loaded up, and ready for full burn starting Tuesday am.

Moved about 3/4 of a ton from the outside storage area to the garage and cleaned the stove as well. Whatever is burned during the snap, will not be burned mid/late week next week. Geez! This “winter”.

Absolutely ridiculous. Was 53 outside today. Not a single sub freezing daytime high the entire month of January. Over 100 years since thatlast happened.

    It's already here in Wisconsin.
It never got about single digits today. It's already only 3 degrees here.

I brought up a few chunks of honey locust that will be overnighters to mix with ash in preparation. I've also got a number of splits of ironwood in the house. I probably won't break into those though.

The coldest day on record all month was 22 degrees, crazy warmth. Can only imagine the ticks and insects if we don't get sustained cold.

-11° this am here in southern ozaukee cty. Being so close to lake Michigan helps temper the extreme temps both hot and cold. It's still pretty dang cold though.

No pellets here, but I do have a mix of black locust and red oak at the ready.

I suspect the oil-eating dragon in the basement will be awake overnight. Not necessarily a bad thing. It'll throw a bit of heat in the basement and help keep pipes safe.

I had a family trip planned to ski killington Vermont this Friday and Saturday. I have never ever cancelled a trip due to weather (have skied multiple days that haven’t reached zero but this time I’d have my wife, my 9 and 11 year old. We decided to cancel when we saw almost 25 below real temp Saturday morning with wind chills of 45 below. Friday’s high temp of zero is supposed to come at midnight and get colder as the day went on. First time for everything I suppose as they just wouldn’t thrive.

Not a skier, but ride snowmobiles in VT. The windchill will be worse. Sometimes they have to close the lifts due to wind and occasionally ive heard due to severe windchill.
