Looking for feed back on pour in liner insulation. I see there are several brands that mix with water, and I am wondering if anybody prefers one type over the next? I'm getting an absolute steel sometime next week and need to order the insulation soon.
P.s. If I placed this question in the wrong place...I'm sorry.

I don't have any direct answers for you, but maybe talking with a qualified chimney mason or liner installer will get you a few different options.

My FIL had his stainless liner installed by a local pro, he used a vermiculite mix in his and it's been working splendidly ever since....

Thanks Scotty. We do not have any local pros in my area anymore. I think maybe I will use some bags of asbestos. I know that will work great, just don't want to mess with it as I will be remodeling my house in a couple years. Yuk!

Oh please don't do that!! That stuff is bad.

Do some searching on the web, I'm sure you'll find a solid recommendation!

Contact the awesome crew at Obadiah's Woodstoves, they're located in Yaak, Montana. Woody Chain is the owner (as well as a member here), maybe he can point you in the right direction...

True scotty. I've been dealing with it for 20+ years. Lots of my customers have bags of asbestos in their attics. I'm finishing a remodel now that had the stuff from Libby montana in all the walls and the ceiling. I don't like it either, makes a guy wish he had a office job sometimes!

We use thermix brand pour in. My only regret is that the installer (of the thermix) didn’t stuff Kaowool completely around the pipe to stop thermix from slowly dribbling past the pipe, very slowly. The Thermix does the job though.

Thanks. Great tip on using kaowool. I was worried about using a chimney ballon.
