    We used to see it off and on but lately it seems there are so many who want to post pictures but don't seem to know the right way to do it. They show as attached rather than having the pictures right in the post. So, here goes;

Step 1: Click on "Upload a File"
    upload_2019-3-24_11-42-59.png

Step 2: As you know, after clicking on Upload a File it will take you to where your pictures are stored. Click on the one you want. If more than one, hold down the Ctrl button while selecting the files.

Step 3: HERE IS WHERE SOME ARE MISSING THE BOAT.
After the files are uploaded then click on "Thumbnail" or "Full Image" Those buttons are found just above the list of pictures you've uploaded and look like this:
    upload_2019-3-24_11-48-57.png
Just click on either Thumbnail or Full Image and then those picture will be inserted right into the post.

    ***Edited to include additional information:
This is similar to the image above, except adding a picture when posting, as opposed to creating a thread-

    CF924AA7-633A-4C2C-BC4E-21FEBEAB9D20.jpeg
You can also select “More Options” and preview your post before finally posting.

The reason this is important is that not everyone has a super fast computer and if the files are attached rather than inserted, it takes the computer time to display them. I can imagine it is lots of time with some phones that people use. I use a desktop and even then sometimes it can take quite a while before I can see the pictures. If this happens to others, you can imagine that the pictures you wanted to show others never get seen by many.

Hopefully this will help a lot of folks. Thank you.

Nice tutorial Dennis. One small adjustment perhaps for some, is that sometimes you won't go right to where your pics are stored. They might be on the computer, but they might be on a phone or other device, so you may have to find that device (once it's been plugged into the computer) and look for the files.
On a phone, they're quite often in a DCIM folder. I don't use the phone to post pics, so not sure how that works.
I use the thumbnail option, as it loads the pics a bit quicker for most. Those that have super fast internet speeds might not even think about that, but those (like myself) that have slower speeds have to wait for full size pics to load.
More than a few times, I've not even bothered to wait for those to load and I'll hit the back button and read a different post.
    I'm glad you mentioned that.

Also I've noticed that since I got my new megapixel picture taking phone this fall, that you can't upload pics that are much over 7 megabytes. You'll get an error. Either take a screenshot, and post that or other way to reduce the size of the pictures.

I used tapatalk for awhile. It's no longer installed. Too inconsistent.

I use my phone for FHC once in blue moon or so, I have not used the tapatalk and pictures show up ok for me. That said yooperdave , I cannot see most IMGUR things, those take forever to load, so I scroll past the majority of them.

In addition to what Backwoods Savage shared in the Opening Post, members have up to 4 hours to “edit” their posts, for content, fixing hacked up quotes, and removing or adding pictures.

For example, wildwest could have edited her post up until just past 7pm, by clicking/tapping on the edit button-

Here’s the next step, with one of my posts-
    13E3246B-93B4-4A33-A0D7-1F5EC3E08790.jpeg
I selected “More Options” and so can add more pics, or use the delete button to the right of each pic if you feel like removing it. If you use the delete button, you also have to remove the code in the post window.

Fixing nixed up quotes, or removing an incorrectly placed response within a quote can be managed as well, but if you don’t feel comfortable doing this, PM me or one of the other Mods.....
Remember though, we’re volunteers and most of us work regular jobs/have families, so please be patient if you’ve sought one of us out for help with forum use questions. :handshake:

Hoard on and “Pics, or it didn’t happen” always applies!!!:ithappened:

I understand what you are saying about attaching the pictures and being on a slow and/or data limited connection...but if you leave them as a thumbnail it gives the reader the option of clicking on the file and loading the entire photo or not. A post with a thumbnail picture is smaller and loads faster than a post with the image embeded into the body of the post, if the reader is interested then they can spend the time and bandwidth and click on the thumbnail to load the entire image. Some of the threads with lots of pictures embeded in the body of the posts like the "loaded truck" or "amateur photography" take forever to load, even on a fast connection.

I’ll have to say I just don’t like tap talk as a whole. It’s just as easy for me to go through the site.

Sorry Dave but I totally disagree with you on this one. Unless you or I are misunderstanding each other. You can put the picture into the post as either a thumbnail or full image and that is fine. But if you don't choose either of those two, it shows as an attached picture and then you have to click on it to see it as it is just too small to see. But put it right into the post as a "thumbnail" and it is fine.
