Hey all, A friend of mine recently got a new place and is in the process of moving all his stuff out of the old one. He has offered me his England's Stove Works Add On Woodstove (can't burn @ the new place) for $450. He only used it for a couple seasons and bought it new. https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/94/94818dd1-4abe-442d-b40e-22c705e84415.pdf That's the only pic I could find of it. Any thoughts? I've only had one season with the upgraded Baker I just swapped to. It's a much bigger one than I had and I really like it, but this England's would be piped into my duct and blow it's own air so I won't have to run my oil furnace fan, which has worked a treat for the last 10 years. I'm sure it would perform very similar. I haven't laid eyes on it yet but I'm heavily considering it. Pro's vs Con's?
Do it...those little 28-3500's are a workhorse, and well regarded...that's a great price too! Englander made a newer "EPA" version of that starting in 2017, it was basically the NC30 stove with an air jacket and a blower on it, model 28-4000...they don't have a wood furnace available as of right now, but since they do have the "new" NC32 EPA 2020 certified, I'd guess its just a matter of time until they have the furnace version out...not that any of that matters for your current decision
That little 850 CFM blower on the 28-3500 should use less power than running your furnace blower all the time too.
That's good to hear. The thought of moving this Baker beastie again pains me. I really like it, so maybe it's time to put a wood burner in my garage.
IIRC, CHeath has a 28-3500 for the last 3-4 years now...I'm sure there are others that I am forgetting too...
I had one in my old shop. It heated 2000 sq ft. With 14’ ceilings just fine. Wished the firebox was larger though.
There was one already installed in the house that MarkG bought 2 years ago. We had to fix quite a bit of that previous install before he lit the first fire but it nearly runs him out of the house now!
Yep, I’m going to get it. Thanks for all the replies. Hopefully it cuts back a bit on wood useage and the electric bill.
I don’t have a better pic of the dolly but if you have to move the stove up or down stairs consider renting an electric stair climber. This one was 45$ for 4 hours. Won’t do a stove move again without one!
Congrats! And, good use of the stair climbing dolly. I have used those before at work and they are worth every dollar of the purchase price/rental price!
My summers heat 2400 thread I bought a esw smart stove from Lowe’s last winter turned out to be a turd.
