Our travel trailer has posi-lube axles , and I,m a bit old school and really like to take everything apart clean and repack the bearings by hand . Has anyone used them and how often and how much grease do you use in them ?
Don't use them. You will regret it when the grease spooges onto your brakes and ruins them. Do it old school. My bad experience was with Dexter ez-lube axles. Same setup and after a short time the brakes were fouled with grease.
This is the style of lock for the castle nut. I have not been able to find them. If I'm not going to use the the posi-lube feature, drilling the axle and using cotter keys would be an option. But I am a little nervous about breaking the drill bit when drilling into the posi-lube grease passage.
E trailer should have the locks...I even find them at tractor supply.. One trick to greasing these axles properly is to jack the axle up and rotate the wheel while SLOWLY adding grease. Also make sure to use a wheel bearing rated grease. ( not all tubes are) (( I'm if you made it this far you already knew that though...))

If you are fouling the brakes with EZ-lube type axles then your rear seal is shot and needs to be replaced. And often that is because the rear bearing is worn or way out of adjustment. Use quality double lip seals and check the bearing adjustment every chance you get. In fact, raising the wheel, pulling the dust caps and lubing the axle can get combined with a quick bearing check/adjustment and you're good to go. I pump just until I see clean grease moving towards the dust cap and that's it.
That's exactly what I learned. And how I grease on the equipped axles. Cheap seals don't keep the grease from pushing out back.
I did not know about the wheel bearing rated grease requirement. The lube tubes I have are NLGI automotive wheel bearing and chassis lubricant. Turning the wheel slowly while pumping the grease makes sense.
E-Trailer is a fantastic source for light duty trailers. I have spent more than I care to admit on that site.
