Hi to all, I'm new to this forum but not to fire wood or woodstoves. I'm currently awaiting delivery of a new Blaze King to replace my aged Vermont castings Encore. My setup is a cathedral ceiling support box using single wall 8" stove pipe. This stove and and pipe set-up were here when we purchased the house some ten years ago. I will be using the existing stove pipe as it seems to be in good shape. I have never installed a stove pipe array and cannot figure out just how to get the last piece of stove pipe into the stack. I've seen mention of a slip joint pipe. Is that the answer to my dilemma? If so, how does it work? I appreciate any advice and I aplologize for the dumb question.

A slip section is the answer to your problem. Finding one that fits your current pipe may be the challenge. No stoves should be setup without one, but sadly many are installed this way.
Since it’s 8” I assume it’s a King? BK really want their stoves to be ran with double wall pipe. This would be a really good time to upgrade the pipe.

Could you please expand why no stove should be installed with adjustable pipes.
I have adjustable double wall into the chimney and see no problems with it.

Thanks guys, sounds like a slip pipe is the answer.

It would seem a King model...based on what he wrote.

The encore required an 8” flue if you wanted to be able to use it with the doors open, it was most common. Blaze King makes several models, all are 6” except 1, the King. The OP hasn’t said what model. It’s very important to run 6” pipe on the models with 6” flue collars. That’s why I was asking.

Currently waiting on the BK to replace the Encore.

My set-up...8” pipe...there when he purchased the house.

He said he will be using existing pipe...the 8” existing pipe...seems to be in good shape.

Assuming he wrote what he meant, then the King model is the only one that uses an 8” pipe...the pipe he has and wants to use.
