Though I have 3 ton of Wood + Sons pellets stashed away, I decided to pick up a few bags of Pennington / Walmart pellets. The cold night a few days ago I tried a bag and the Pennington's burned very clean with decent heat. $5.88 per bag but unfortunately Walmart doesn't give a per/ton discount. If I could have grabbed a $250 ton price I would have picked up a couple ton.

We always suggest that people buy a few different brands to try
    before committing to tonnage.
However, we also suggest that you test them in like conditions.
My "personal" opinion, is that trying them in the winter, in similar
10-15° weather is the best way.
You can put anything in these days, and chances are, they will
drive you out of your house..

Yep that is a good point. I think they could takes skids and grind them up into pellets and even they would keep you warm this time of the season.
