The house we just bought has an Englander model # 49- TRCPM. We've never used one, so is this a decent stove?

"TimberRidge "49-TRCPM". This stove by Summers is rated for 2,200 square feet of living space to heat." I don't have experience with that stove. I found that capacity on the net. Lots of Englander users out there. Much of it related to the price point of getting into a pellet stove for heating. If you are handy, this can provide you with some good heating.
    Specs are as followed:

    Wood or Pellet Burning: Pellet
    BTU (BTU): 52000
    Heating Area (Sq. Feet): 2200.0
    Hopper Capacity (Cu. Feet): 1.25
    Ash Drawer: Yes
    Blower: Yes
    EPA Approved: Yes
    UL Safety Listing: Yes
    CSA Safety Listing: Yes
    ETL Safety Listing: Yes
    Pedestal Base: Yes
    Brick-Lined Firebox: No
    Air Wash System: Yes
    Warranty: Limited 5-Year
    Fuel Capacity (lbs.): 50.0
    Auto Ignition: Yes
    Touch Pad Controls: Yes
    Outside Air Kit: Yes
    Built-In Variable Speed Blower: Yes
    Catalytic/Non Catalytic: Non Catalytic
    Type: Freestanding
Specs are good, but I would suggest you keep a bag of pellets handy. The 50 lb capacity of stove will run out, and you will want to top it off before going to bed. Cleaning is one of the big issues with pellet stove, Also, some stoves are fussy with the brand of pellets. Those last two were major factors in my going with a Harman.

I am a big fan of Englander stoves in general. Best part is as already mentioned their senior tech is an active member here. Also, for that particular model we have imacman who knows that stove inside and out.

That thing is going to kick some serious heat. Start now finding what pellets are available in your area, buy a bag of each and find which ones you prefer before ordering a bunch. Shame is right now is prime pre order time.

Being your new burner is a multi-fuel, that thing should eat most pellets you put in it. Those seem to be pretty decent pellets. Good bang for the buck.

Same here! The ease and peace of mind of the pellet stove will be nice. I'll start processing wood sometime soon and eventually install a woodstove where this pellet stove sits and move the pellet stove to a more central location in the house I'm thinking....

Good plan! Pellets are a bit pricey these days(cheaper to burn juice or gas). But should be great in the shoulders. Then once the cold sets in you can fire tha wood eater. Use the pellet to assist and feather out the wood stove spikes.

Depending on your needs you may REALLY like the convenience and end up using the pellet stove more than the wood stove:eek:. For those without a furnace on gas or juice, I don't mind paying for pellets as the other alternative is the wood stove, too much for me to feed it all day.....
