We have a paw paw patch ( or is it grove?) in a portion of our woods. They have been dropping since mid- late september. Still some hanging on in the trees but I would say season coming to an end.
This is the first year since we moved here in 2018 that I've been gathering them to freeze. I've made smoothies with them and just ate them as is before. Gonna try bread and maybe make ice cream.

Average haul I get when I grab some coming in from the tree stand.

Whistle pig grabs a fresh one as he hangs out under some trees.

    Anyone else eat them?

My BIL just started to last year. They moved into a new place a few years ago and he has embraced the paw paw. Made ice cream w/ it and let my wife and I try some. It was good!

I've hears3 of them for years, but never tried any. I think I got a tree from a nursery years ago, but it didnt make it.

My wife says I'm obsessed with them. Next year I'll be more prepared for my gathering. Hopefully freeze enough pulp to last all year.

I have heard of them but never have seen or tasted one. Not too common around here.

To me they are a combination of a pineapple, banana, and mango. That's the best way I can explain the taste.

We have a few places where we find them every year. You have to catch them just right otherwise the raccoons will eat them all.

My kids like them, but I'm not that big of a fan. They aren't bad, but it isn't something I would ever get a hankering for.

We have 2 patches on our property. I like them but hard to catch ripe. Like previously said coons and groundhogs eat them as fast as they get ripe. I think our late frost/snow we had this spring hurt ours cause I haven’t found a one.
