    Hello
When replacing a fire door gasket, does it look nicer to clean and grind the metal bracket that holds the glass in? A little more work but nice results?
Ripped out the old gasket and cleaned out the old reddish orange silicone with a wire wheel & flat blade screw driver, then masked with masking tape.
I also masked the rope gasket channel so the new gasket will adhere better. :)
Pic 1 - wire wheel rust
Pic 2 - grind real smooth with a HF $15 grinder and flap pad.
Pic 3 - spray paint with high temp Stove Bright Satin Black
Pic 4 - after 2nd coat for good coverage
Pic 5 - apply the clear high temp silicone
Pic 6 - Install high quality graphite impregnated 7/8” diameter rope gasket. I always start in lower corner near door hinge.
Pic 7 - clean glass with single edge razor blade and Rutland white off glass cleaner
Pic 8. - Done with nice rich and smooth black glass bracket & new door rope gasket. :)
