    There's a shortage of P.T. wood here.
While doing a 'walkway' across some wet areas for #2 PT boards, none of the yards had any.
Had to use #1 which is some big $$$.
Reason ? They say too many "from away" ( southern New England, N.Y.C.) want new porches and decks.
    damm.

It's not just where you are, there is a nationwide PT shortage. Partiality due to some of the PT plants closing down or operating at a limited capacity, and partially due to a higher demand during the shutdown than anticipated.

People are staying home and doing home projects instead of going on vacation this year across every state. In addition KD lumber has gone up significantly, and I wouldn't be surprised if that also becomes hard to get.

No problem with KD lumber here at least.
Since the loss of most paper mills in Maine, there's a good supply of dimensional lumber.
We haven't sold pulp in over a decade.
KD stock has gotten pricey however like you said.

I WAS going to do a couple of projects involving framing lumber, but I can't bring myself to pay 50% more for no reason.

Guess I'll wait til prices go back down.

I feel like PT lumber is akin to an auction item right now. You have all these stay at home yuppies waving their cash in the air hoping to get the remaining PT stock to do their projects. A lot of people with more money than brains.

2x4x8 KD are now $5.36 at HD

Yep. PT is in short supply. And more expensive than it should be. I've been waiting for weeks to get my last 4 deck boards that I need for my wood shed. Looks like they might be available, and I'll be getting my roofing today too.

PT, toilet paper, now paper towels. Next is beer.
At least Scotland is stihl making single malts ( along with Japan ).

P.S. Learned something new (again) : use zinc coated screws for PT .
Uncoated steel or sheetrock screws can rot due to copper electrolysis.
Thx to my expert contractor buds.

Hot dipped galvanized (zinc coated) at the very least. Electrolytic zinc coating is not sufficient. The sacrificial layer of zinc is just too thin and wears out quickly.
I prefer ceramic coated or stainless.
It's worth the extra cost when you consider what fastener failure would do and how difficult it is to know whether it's occurring.

if the drive slots , squares , what ever are filled with zink- what use are they. Many grades of stainless, and many substarndard zink coatings- pick your own poison.

Shortage here too. Walk into a big box store and PT shelves empty. Told it was from covid19 issues in plants???

Yep. Plants were shut down, then trains were delayed, and so many people at home doing projects sucking up any inventory. Demand overwhelmed supply. It took my local Menards 6 weeks to get in the covered 5/4 6" wide pt deck boards.

Well it didn't help that at the onset of Covid some plants assumed there would be a glut and cut back hours, some by quite a bit.

Lol. We got 256 pcs at our store. Not a lot, but I got my 4 pieces I needed.:p

earlier in the year I saw other folks, in New England fwiw, that were getting stock of PT lumber and we were getting nothing. It's just scarce now. If you need it, and you can buy it, do it. What sucks is the pricing appears to be jacked up. 9.86 for a 10' of the deck board. Not certain what normal cost is though.

    Horkn --16' #1 5/4 x 6" in Blue Hill, Maine = $28.21 EACH. EACH ! EACH!
All I needed was 8 #2 boards just for a walkway, not a deck.
Your Packers may change the name to "PT"

Wow. I just checked and my local store had the 10' for 9.99 each. The 16' are 15.49 each. They have 214 of the 10' and none of the 16'

What's the typical price for these? Unfortunately I've had to pay the exaggerated price for the lumber that I didn't already have. Luckily I've had most of what I needed.
