Finally pulled the trigger on the Crown Royal 7300E outdoor wood boiler. So out with the old Replaced piping also Digging trench the old insulation was saturated with water. The new pipe In with the new Crown Royal 7300E Sitting on the new pad Spent all day yesterday getting this installed. Ready for Winter!
Alright I didn't take a lot during install as we got to busy doing, but I did take a few afterwards of the new boiler and my wood yard setup. Here you go View attachment 308648
Sweet setup. A carport is on my wish list for sure! A performance report on the new system will be required here
Was the old boiler a central boiler? Looks like it. I'm sure your new boiler will be a lot more efficient. I know people that have those old central boilers and man do they eat firewood.
Yes it was a Central Boiler I hope that the Crown Royal is as good. I have been loading it once a day with Maple and Oak so far it is doing the job well. I'm thinking just about half the amount of wood.
I was not having any problems with it just decided to upgrade. I have been running it for a time and noticed that I have burnt about half the wood I normally burn maybe even less.
Thanks for the reply. I am going tomorrow to check out the Crown Royal 7300E and the Heatmaster G 7000. It all depends on the dealer that gives the best vibe. The more I research the less I know. I am swapping out a Central Boiler Classic 5636 Titanium (it's leaking). The firebox is stainless and the jacket is steel. Been running it for 17 years. I love my old dealer (Edward Jewel out of Rocky Mount, Va), but hear the jacket on the CB is still mild steel. Not planning on going that route again. It has served me well though.
My brother said they are seeing the same savings after dad replaced their old CB at the farm...put in a HeatMaster G10000 in place of a...ah...20 YO CB, I don't recall the model #, it was the big one though...but heating 2 houses and 2 shops (1 is a big one) and they are seeing wood usage that is in the 50-60% savings range...which is nuts considering that the underground line is still known to be compromised! (slated to be replaced with "the good stuff" in the summer) What are you heating? Must be big to need a G7000 in NC? I really think the G7k would have been enough enough to heat the 6500-7000 sq ft at the farm (and the large shop is 14' (16'?) ceilings) once the underground line set is replaced...but they weren't willing to gamble, so the G10k will have a fairly easy life.
I am glad to hear this information on less wood usage. We are considering replacing our 16 year old CB 6048 with something more efficient.
I believe there are 2 smaller models & 2 larger models if you include the pallet burner model. It’s definitely a big stove it holds almost 400 gallons of water. It does a terrific job heating our 2 houses & the domestic water in our milk house along with the little heater in there but as I get older I wouldn’t mind having something that’s not quite as wood hungry.
