im looking to get 2 tons of pellets and my local high end supplier has lacretes for $300, awf ultra premium white pine $300, oakie platinum $320 and easy blaze super premium softies for $320. I mean he has northern warmth but no way am I paying 375/385 a ton. I tried awf a few years ago and they burned very good but just lots of fines and I have burned multiple tons of oakie plats but that was last year it the year before and they burned very nice as well. Idk how their quality is now and last year I was getting them for like $275 a ton but I have always heard good things about easy blaze and lacretes. Thanks everyone

Okie plats this year are the same pellet as LG Grnauals. The Eagle Valley IMHO are a decent softie(Same pellet that Northern Warm is putting in their Super Spruce bags). And North Country is also a nice east coast blondie(softy). I grab a few bags of the North Country for starters to see what you think, I would also grad a couple of the EV's too.

How much they fetching for the EV and NC's??

Those are all well thought of. I'm a cheapskate and probably wouldn't spring for them but if those are the brands you're interested in, anynof them should serve you well. My recommendation would be to buy a few bags of each brand first and see which one your stove likes best.

There's no way I'd pay $320 for EZB...they are a good pellet but not $320 good IMO.....same for the AWFWP.....

Yeah unfortunately the hype about EZB has gone to their heads and now over priced. I was paying $ 265 a ton last year and my dealer is at $ 300 so on to North Country or LaCrete's.

    I agree with slvrblkk,
the EZBLAZE supers are excellent softwoods but they are way overpriced on your end..

Even the LaCrete at 300 is high for me, but its one of the cheapest choices and a great upper tier pellet.

How much for the North Country? Those are no slouch as J pointed out. If its significantly cheaper it may be a good option.

    .. Big +1 w/ peterfield - That's what I would do also.

    * Only feedback I can add is this year's batch of LG Granules are burning well - a touch hotter vs. past years, ash content the same volume & consistency ..

The LGs have been a very consistent quality pellet from the mill, as burned here.

    * But I'd choose LaCretes over LGs, based on price / BTUs - if given the choice.. Ash is lighter, they burn hotter.

I have blazers right now and they weren’t as hot as I thought Douglas firs would be. There was a decent amount of fines.

At that price and being the same price, I would go with LaCrete

Given the options and prices you mentioned, my picks would be:

    North Country
    La Crete
    Eagle Valley

Not sure where you heard NC aren’t impressive, they are good.

Make at least one ton you buy the NC and you won’t be disappointed, unless it’s that you didn’t make both tons you bought NC...

Edit: I was just able to pull up that website. Prices!!!
    :hair:
Anyway, if Spruce Pointe or EZB Blend are available for $285, all things considered, those would be on my list too.

Looking at the list, there are plenty of good options there and you will get as many different opinions from us as well.

Another good option are the Spruce Pointe at 285/ton. Those are very close to LaCrete.

Yes. Maybe check to see if they will let you do a custom sample pack. A half ton of 4 different kinds? Variety is good.

To me all are the same. So price wins.
