We lost Rascal about 5 years ago to a cougar in our back yard. Yesterday we lost Cricket to pancreas and liver failure. She died in my arms yesterday. Now Shadow will have to adjust to being the only dog!

Sorry to read about Rascal. Bet she was as comfy as possible in your arms Allan. It's always gut wrenching to lose them, but surely good to know they're no longer suffering. Bet Shadow now will love all of Dad's attention... ;)

So sorry to hear about Cricket, especially when she looked like she was improving.

I remember the time we took the three of them wood cutting and were getting ready to go home. We put all 3 dogs in the back seat but what neither Woodwidow or myself saw was that Cricket had went right across the back seat and out the other door. It wasn't till we got home 45 minutes later that we discovered she'd been left behind. We took the car back to where we had left her and found her laying very calmly on the edge of the road. From then on, some very serious head counts were done before leaving anywhere.

What campinspecter didn't say was that it didn't take 45 mins to get back to where she was. We were on a mission to find her.

Thank you all for the thoughts and words of comfort.
