    Hello
On a Saturday Night at 9;00 pm before a big Nor’easter snowstorm on SuperBowl Sunday and then single digit temps coming right after that, the old P61a Harman fired up and when it got up to 135 Deg in the exhaust the old original Dayton distribution blower gave a very load screech and siezed right up!! LOL
Hope the old original Combustion blower with the large extra cooling fan on the back last a little longer?
So I replaced with a new one and added a nice dust screen! :)
Having spare parts can be a good stove saver!

Jesus Don...if you don't keep the blower clean, how are you going to keep the dust screen clean? :D

lol- yes, it can, Don! Ive even saved old blowers from dead stoves just in case! Of course, if the power goes out, I am $crewed!

Actually, its becoming somewhat a bear to get certain OEM parts lately....like the distribution fan for the Accentra F/S, 35i, and XXV. Double digits on order, but they are pretty late! Cant sell em, or fix em, if I cant get em

Oiling before screeching is always best.
If it's seized it's probably still good as it's when it chatters that it's gone to far.

while its possible to oil that blower, its technically oil-less......oiling the blower is only a temporary fix, hours or days.

That is actually untrue. If the motor is "lubricated for life" then simply disassemble it and soak the wicks inside with 20w non detergent oil. If the wicks are covered then drill a hole into the wick area. As long as the bushing is tight on the shaft it can be saved.
I do approximately 50 motors a year this way. From a hundred years old to new and neglected.

Ill defer to your motor expertise. BUT, I think the great majority of owners, I would guess 99% or more, are simply unable to remove the motor, disassemble, soak the wicks in 20 weight oil, and reassemble. Hell, i cant even get them to clean the damm stove........replace it.

I look at it that if you think it's shot anyway you might as well take it apart and possibly learn something new.
I get what you are saying though, it's just we as a world don't fix anything anymore just toss it. Shaded pole and psc motors don't get much simpler.

lol- boy, we can get into a discussion of our disposable world here, cant we! Any more FAR too few people are just unable, and unwilling, to get their hands dirty! Heck, so many people dont even mow their own lawns anymore. We have become lazy

Lot easier to just wipe off the Dust Screen than to take the blower out and clean it. :)

The old Dayton blower was approx 15 years old and it still has the original combustion blower with the big cooling fan on the back that is still going strong.
See pic, I just blew the dust out of it with the compressor hose and oiled it! :)

You know I have worked on blowers A lot worse that did not screech like this Harman Accentra Insert that worked fine after the big dust removal operation!
Customer just did not know you had to pull the unit out and tip it upside without breaking the fire glass to clean it out with a wire brush and vacuum!
