Our electric company has been running some ads lately, because of the proposed power increase this winter.
They are asking us to wear long johns on fridays and calling this part of casual fridays.

You'd get used to it, -10 would start to feel like 20, first time I experienced -30 was bone shattering, felt the cold through all layers of clothing right to the bone, didn't get used to that.

DH is armed with long johns, polypro or cotton, or plain ol flannel pajama pants to put underneath his NEW flannel lined jeans. yooperdave . He also has a down jacket that is oil coated. -30* can get scary.

WW, its different out by you for sure due to the fact of sustained winds. Around here, we have windy days also but starting somewhere in southern Minnesota, the sustained thing is just unavoidable! And it does cut right through ya. I hope DH doesn't have an "outside for extended periods" job.

I am not so sure you don't have it just as bad from higher humidity. For whatever area we live in, cold is cold... Thanks again, he is thrilled with them.

A dry cold is much more bearable than a damp cold IMHO......................especially if wind is involved.

I heard that too, and from my limited experience, it was true. I also heard dry heat is much more bearable.

True. 20 degrees in Calif. feels like 0 in Colo.
Coldest I've been through was -60 wind chill, never ever want to be outside in that again.

I've never been in negative temps. It's gotten into single digits down here, but never that cold. I may have to take a trip up north to see what it's all about

(just kidding, I'll stay down here where I can usually feel my extremities :D :shiver:)

The problem that most "rebels" have when they come up North in the winter/cold months; is that they try to look "stylish", rather than dressing for the weather.

Tight jeans, loafers and a wind breaker don't cut it up here in the winter. And I'm not as far North as many here!!!!

I stick to carhartt coats, flannel (fleece lined and normal), regular jeans, and work boots down here. I'm not very cold tolerant, though I do prefer it to the heat of a GA summer. I've got my eye on a wool ll bean guide jacket with a windstopper layer for the real cold days here. My carhartt is warm, but not great against wind
