Posted these 2 pictures on a FB market page. Someone posted a reply that its not cherry. Why would he think that? Look at the bark.
I see a lot of guys in here (no offense) that are just not good at tree id...now take your average, non firewood person who would be on marketplace and multiply the lack of knowledge by at least 10.
From the pile of splits the bark looks like cherry but there's only one split in the middle of the pile that has the more characteristic red color of typical black cherry. The second pic with the MM isn't very red either. Color doesn't render equally and reliably across devices so it's not surprising some people may not be convinced at identification. Plus some people are just jerks.
Some people seem to want to argue for argument sakes. List it as hardwoods and move on. Life is to short and blood pressure meds to expensive!
