    I like any kind of oak. But red oak is my favorite. This is also the first chestnut oak I have had this year I think.

    Yes, biologically it is in the white oak family, but it doesn't have as many tyloses as true Quercus alba white oak, so it will dry faster like red oak. Not as weather resistant as Q. a. either, so not as good for fence posts or barrell staves.

    Nice haul Greg, not sure if it's me but owning a wood fired boiler seems like a boat load of work year round.

    Run mine 10/15 to 4/15 usually. Will burn 12-15 cords probably heating 5000 sf and domestic hot water. But I certainly wouldnt recommend one if you don’t like cutting wood
