Been lurking, 3 years wood burning. After 3 years finally got the hang and good wood! live in East TN and split by hand. 1800 sqft epa stove. 1000 sqft cabin 6 in 12 pitch ceiling. Been great learning trial error and here.

Welcome Matty... :) Sounds like a great place you have there in TN...

I use to split by hand for years and then joined this site and it cost me the price of a splitter! :)
Do you have access to some woods or are you scrounging?

Ain't scrounging. But I'll burn uglies to be conservative. Like a mix 80 oak 10 pine 10 poplar. For me makes an easy fire/time.

I burn a lot of uglies right now during the day. I just put a pile of uglies on the porch today. Got one more tote of those to get rid of and they'll be gone. Then I can just burn the nice stuff.

    Welcome aboard Matt.
It's not the wood that got good after three years, its just that it finally got dried out! (seasoned)
    But, you already know that.

Love scrounging wood even when I don't have too. Don't know how many times I've filled every inch of space in the Tracker on the way home from work in the am with something blown across the road  the county guys love me :D
