Hi all new to this site but really enjoy all the photos and stories. I love in Co Tyrone Northern Ireland, my dad has a dairy farm so lots of land, unfortunately no woodland or forestry but we do have lots of hedgerow with a lot of mature trees. I would say it's about 70 percent ash and alder as the prevelant species with the remainder a mix of sycamore, beech, birch. Had a lot of windfalls the past few years so I got a little husvqvarna 435 last September and have been out making a dent in every weekend since weather providing, well and truly addicted! My woodpile to date is mostly cherry and ash but plan to get some alder processed before the winters out.

Welcome! Looks like a handy set up you have there. What are you burning in? My great great grandmother came to the U.S. from Dungannon in the 1880s. Is that close to you? I see it's also in County Tyrone. Small world!
Hi thank you we have a little Stanley stove, it doesn't have a back burner/boiler but once lit it heats pretty much one side of the house. Dungannon is my postal/zip code I live only about 5 miles from it
Welcome. With similar variety of timber, I suspect many of our ancestors arrived, and thought “this is a lot like Ireland, but with food”. Second thought was “where should I place my whiskey still?”
Welcome to the forum RB. I can picture your father's farm as I grew up on a dairy farm. That is an interesting tractor you have. Would like to see more pictures of it. Also it sounds like you have much of the same type trees that we do here. Good. I do hope that ash borer does not show up over there like it did here. It almost completely wiped out our ash trees in this area.
