I've have a good generator for quite some time, and it was big enough to run what we needed when the power is out.

I picked up this jewel last week because it actually has more wattage than my other genny, is dual fuel,. and electric start. Bought it through Facebook marketplace for $500 It is a model that is about two years old, and the new model is $1000. This one has 10 hours on it. Will plug it into the generator switchbox nicely that we had installed earlier this year!

Last year I bought a Champion 2000 watt inverter genny to use at my firearms classes when I need my computer and TV. I have over 100 hours on the small genny already and it runs great.

One of those items that you don't need often, but when need, you need it. Good score.

That should have enough power to run all you want and need.

I have two genneys in the 5000watt range. I use mine about 5 time a year. We loose power all the time it seems. I have used it two times in the last three months or so alone.

They are well worth it! Think of the food you would loose alone each power outage without one. Plus the warmth and comfort factor of it in the winter and the ability to run. Fans when you loose it down here in the south and it's 90+ degrees outside!

Bought one like it a few years ago except it's not duel fuel. Added the front wheels to make my life a lot easier.
I had to use it for a few hours last month because of a big outage and what I like about this one is that I can run the 220 volt deep well pump with it. I can't run the pump with the smaller 3,000 watt.
Being able to run the water and flush the toilet and take a shower means a lot after a few hours.

I usually start out with this one and migrate to the bigger one after the need for water becomes apparent.

Yeah, we are on a well also. We are good for a half day or so without water, then it's not good after that. We have animals that need to be watered, and a shower is nice too. I like the second set of wheels. Where did you get those and how much work was it to get them to work on your generator?

I bought the solid tires on rims and threaded rod for the axle at our local Canadian Tire store. You could probably find both at a TSC store. Two U bolts and four holes drilled and it was done. I painted the rims beforehand so they'd match.
I still use the handle to push it and just lift it a bit to make a turn. Much easier to move around.

I’ve had a 5000 watt champion generator for 7 or 8 years now. Bought from a neighbour when he upgraded to a 10,000. Had 14 hours on it. Had the switch box put in 4 years ago when we bought our current home. Runs our 120 volt well pump, wood furnace blower, lights, AC whatever we need within reason.

Haven’t had to use it much in the last couple years but used it a lot in the first 2 years. 2 days after the switch was installed we ran it for 2+ days. Nice to know it’s there if we need it. The hurricane that just came through a couple days ago beat up Nova Scotia pretty bad and left 400,000 homes without power. We didn’t get near the winds so not a huge amount in NB lost power.

We raise our own meat and freeze a lot of veggies from the garden. Nice to know all that hard work won’t get spoiled.

9000 watts for $500. I’d say you did very well. Even firewoodhoarders like their creature comforts.
