I’d been on the look out for a new maul and this thread prompted me to look into Stihl’s offerings in more detail. I wanted the 6.6lb ‘Pro Splitting Maul’, alas, it’s not readily available in the UK. However, after some more reading on here it turns out that the Ochsenkopf OX 635 H‑3009 is the same as the Stihl maul so I treated myself to one.

It’s beautifully constructed and works extremely well, even on some large knotty pieces which I’d thrown into the ‘too difficult’ pile.

Hopefully this will be around for many years to come.

Looks mean and hungry. Nicely done.

I love mine and have been splitting 4-6 cords per year for a few years with it now.

Yup! It’s the same. I like mine it’s just a Stihl branded version.
