    Hi friends!

I installed the new Harman P43 today. I’m going to fire it up in the morning. I read the entire owner’s manual that came with it. I don’t see anything about break in fires. The manual references how to use certain settings “if this is your first fire.” But nothing about typical break in fires.

My Jotul wood stove came with very specific directions about break in fires - but not my new pellet stove.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

This is all you need to know. There is no "break in". Except for burning off paint. Start it up and let it run.

You'll probably get some smell the first fire as B said as some paint will burn off the inside. Some dealers run a test fire to make sure the stove functions properly, it yours did you may not get the smell.

Enjoy the P43, it's a great stove. Do a good cleaning every ton and it'll be fine.

I agree with the above that you will get some smell. Run the first hour with a couple of windows cracked open.

I threw a box fan in the window. It was 25 degrees out at the time, but just let the stove crank. Open up a window on the other side of the house as well, get some good cross flow. Did this for 3ish hours.
