Bought this 2006 Quad CB 1200 this morning. I looked it over real quick when I got home and fired it up and stove lit right up. Stove is very rusted on the outside BUT the internals are in great shape. Both fans are quiet with no bearing noise so I won't need to replace either one of those. You can see on the impellar that it was clean as can be. Igniter and thermocouple look almost brand new too as does the firepot. As I was digging into the stove it wasn't dirty what-so-ever. I have a feeling that less than 20-25 bags were put through this then left for dead in a musty environment. So aside from paint and gaskets, this "should" be a quick one. I had it burning for about 2 hours when I go home, it's too bad it is so rusted but I'll have it shined in no time.

Besides pellet stove monkey, Steve's new business name might be Grave Yard Stoves........bringing old, tired stoves back from the dead.

Well...I should have finished the stove today but (1 )- The wife started complaining that she smelled fumes in the house and (2) I have to go into work in a bit and salt. WTF is with the damm snow!!! :hair: Not sure if the smelled the paint fumes or the propane bullet heater.

I have just a little more painting to do so when she leaves for her yoga class tomorrow morning I'll finished the painting. I think it turned out really nice. One of the covers was mangled up a bit and I straightened it out the best I could. I didn't bother spraying dry moly on the pot on this one. I thought I'd be firing it up today but no dice.

Not sure if I'll be able to do anymore stoves now that the cold has set in and I can't really keep the garage doors open anymore. Guess I should look for a small shop!

Nothing a little elbow grease and some paint won't fix. With the 1200's, I would double check the heat exchanger tubes. The 1200's have a tendency to loose em.kap

Thanks kap...those were one of the first things I checked when I got it home.

I went to look at an '05 Mt. Vernon last week and the one exchange tubes was very slightly loose. Did that problem affect all the lines of the Quad's? I thought it was predominately the 1200's but my memory stinks so I may be wrong.

Mainly 1200's. They are just a friction fit with a dimple from a dead punch holding them in place. kap
