I just purchased a new camera for my wife, it a anniversary present. It’s a Canon R6 mirrorless with a 24-105mm lens and a 100-500mm on order. I bought it from Camraland on Long Island, Ny. I hope it lives up to the hype.
Chazsbetterhalf has asked for a new camera this year. She wants to take sunset and bird pics. Her B'day is next month. Looking forward to a review of that camera.
Canon R6 Certainly hope it lives up to expectations. Edit.. Chazsbetterhalf will not be getting one of those.
I certainly hope so, other than the basic functions of a camera I don’t know anything about all the functions, settings and lenses.
It’s the new tech, I was told that in the last 6 months Canon has dropped 4 or 5 of 9 of the mirrored models in the range I am looking in. And they added that many to the mirrorless models. They said because there are no mirrors the lens is closer to the sensor giving a better, faster image. I have not nerded out on the difference just passing along what I remember. For the price of admission it better be a good ride.
This made me laugh!! Jill shows off her new camera at the next GTG...(Chaz sprung for the good one that has the built-in flash)
Well, the camera came in yesterday as scheduled. I'm not really one that lives on suspense or drama, so I had her open the box, and said happy birthday. It is a Canon EOS Rebel T5I with an EFS 55-250mm lens. Her son is into photography, so I asked him for advice. He said this camera will do what she wants, and much more. Still one or two lenses yet to purchase, but she seems to like it. Purchased online, used, with a 22 day no questions asked return policy, and 180 day warranty. Her B'day would be outside the 22 day return.. so.. Looking forward to an update from Rope Maybe after the fishing weekend.
mirrorless can be a really good choice if you also want to shoot video vs just photographs I hope cameraland is selling U.S. models and not imports as there can be warrantee issues with imports. Course, if there's never a warrantee issue then that's a moot point.
They have been on several forums I have frequented for 2 decades. And have a great reputation and even gave a discount.
I think this is a great purchase with one caveat.. You are required to post more pics of your amazing scenery
