Thats my boy, my bestfriend, my right hand man. He is...My son.
He's 12 years old. We just celebrated his 12 year birthday literally, 4 days ago...
Within the last week, we have noticed that Champ has slowed down quite a bit.
he doesnt play with the 2 Aussie's, at all. He doesnt wag his tail as much.
    The list goes on..

The worst right now, is that Champ has been peeing blood.
This actually started on his birthday.
I took him to the vet on my lunch the next day, they took a urine sample.
Champ has tumors, and we are mostly certain he has a tumor on his bladder.
The news only gets worse, and i am currently not in good enough shape to type it all out.

Im having a pretty rough time right now...
He is technically my Fiance's dog. Rachel.
She has had him since he was only a hand full of weeks old.
We have been together for almost 8 years.

Need some kind words, from my family here at FHC.

Thank you, thank you guys. For everything.

Hard to lose a member of the family like that. I hope his pain is minimal or non-existent. God bless you in this hard time.

I have no words that will make you or him feel better my friend. Just know that you gave him 12+ great years and he loves and thanks you for it. Give him some extra love, treats, and make him comfortable. That's all you can do.
We are here for you guys.

So sorry to hear that he is not doing well. As Boecefus said, know that you did your best for him and he you. Nature and God has a plan for this. Hard as it is, we have to live by those plans. Prayers and best of hope from Bear and I.

Thank you to all of ya

Ive lost pets before, a few pets.. being 26 years old.
It hurts, he's not gone yet and i dont want to think about how much time we have left with him.
I'll dump as much money into him as i can to keep him alive, happy and pain free.
Once the pain sets in and nothing can be done, then it'll be time.

He has had a fantastic life, this boy has been on some road trips, seen some places, swam a few laps,
fetched a few balls, played with a few pups, licked a few faces.. He's got one steller story behind him.

We just got home, Champ and I. I went and picked him up from the vet.

    Here he is.

I wish there were words that could help, LinkedXJ.
Its so tough watching our furry friends decline. They just don't last long enough.
Focus on the great years that you were allowed to have with Champ.
Praying for peace and comfort for your family.

Hang in there LinkedXJ ... now you can give him lots of love and warmth through this time. It's not easy to do but you'll feel so much better later that you did all you could, and you were able to keep him pain free. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about Champ. He will be in my prayers tonight.

I can't imagine losing Emma, my dog, she's one of our family and my best buddy. They give their selfless love and ask for little in return.

I wish dogs would live as long as we do, so we dont have to go through these times as much.

Dang it bud, I hate that for you guys.... You've had a tough go at it here lately, and this is surely just as tough. It's hard for me to add much that hasn't been so poignantly said by the rest of our family^^^^^^ heck, I'm having a tough time seeing the keyboard right now 'cos of reading them posted thoughts.
Give him love til the end, as he has been giving to you.
Ok. Gotta go, I'm about to bawl like a like I've lost one mine...
Praying for y'all to be strong and well.

    I think yall are helping..

    Champ is a trooper.

So, 2 days ago i ran him to the vet doctor guy early in the morning.
They did an ultrasound of his bladder and basically confirmed what we thought we already knew.

Champ has a tumor on his bladder, othe location is all jibber jabber to me. Its near his man part though.
So.. With that being said, heart broken we are. We love this dog..

Champ is a strong boy though, and we are strong with him.
We honestly thought we were putting him down for good just 2 days ago.
So.. the doctor also shoved a catheter in his peepee and was able to get a sample of some stuff
    from inside his bladder.
Doc sent this off to the local university for testing, he had looked at it under his microscope before
it was sent off and had seen some cells that didnt look good.

So later that day we got the results back and they tested positive for the tumor.
Its got some crazy name to go along with it. He prescribed Champ an anti inflammatory.
We got that filled at the local pharmacy..

    So check this out.
Monday night, Champ had 7 accidents in the house, throughout the night.
Including in the bathtub and on the kitchen floor.
This boy will not go potty on the carpet. Only in the tub, and then when the tub
is well used, he'll hit up the kitchen floor.
So.. That was Monday night. We got him to the vet on Monday, got this new medicine
in him.. Tuesday night, not a single accident, tail waggin a mile a minute, he's noticeably
happier, feeling better, its.....wild. He's wild too.. so.

Like right now, he is on his back wanting a belly rub and probably a package of hot dogs.
So, the doctor says this is a bandaid fix. The procedure needed to remove the tumor
is near impossible due to how close it is to other parts of the mans body.
So, we have bought anywhere from 5 to 8 months of time with this medicine.

Things are rough, but im really glad to see my boy waggin his tail, rolling on the floor, begging for food,
barking at the door when i purposely hit the door bell before walking in, even after he has looked outside
to see who it is coming in... he's somethin else.

So.. Thank you.. Thank you to all of you that have chimed in, gave me some words of wisdom, shared your
thoughts and showed your concern. It helps me and it helps my Fiance, she reads this stuff.

    Thank you guys

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. Sorry to hear about Champ.

I hold dogs in higher regard than most people, present company excluded.

I'm glad he's feeling better, just enjoy him as much as you can.
