Chainsaw started running horrible today. I've had some issues with bogging when going from idle to wide open for some time, but could get the rpm's up and maintain through the cut.. not today, anything over 1/2 throttle bogs and/or stalls the saw. Couldn't keep rpm's up through a cut, got rather frustrating. Air filter is clean, checked plug, was slightly over gapped according to the manual, so corrected that, no appreciable difference. I think the fuel filter could need changed, but couldn't find that in the manual I have on my phone. It's the only other item I can really figure would be causing this problem. Audio sucks, think the mic was overloaded being so close. But here's a quick vid..
It sounds like it needs a carb adjustment. I’d try a quarter turn counterclockwise on H and see if it improves in the cut. An 1/8 turn cc on L may clean up the bog off idle. If that doesn’t work set both back to initial factory settings. A gooogle search of initial carb settings for your saw will give beginning carb settings.
Thx Eric... I was wondering why it didn't come up right. But I did the "copy link" from my user acct.. dunno. Thx
Weirdest part, somehow the video had 63 views when I linked it here. Who in the heck is that damm bored? Edit... Well, I see I misspelled down.. Can't edit the title, but now it's got 211 views Some bored people out there.
if I hear what I think I hear Limited coil is doing its thing, protecting the saw. Do you think it accelerating to the top faster than normal?
Limting/limiter coil? I certainly see that as possible, wasn't aware that it was a new enough saw to have such implementation. As to accelerating "faster than normal".. it seems to be "normal". It never went from idle to WOT without a pause. But that seems normal.
Hopefully it’s not an air leak. If you eliminated fuel and air filter obstruction, it could be bad fuel, or heat and humidity change. If it was a Husqvarna, you may have just looked at it wrong
Maybe it’s time for some new fuel line, a fuel filter and a carb rebuild kit. To me the vid sounds like super slow acceleration. Clogged carb screen, clogged [fuel] filter, very soft line.. many small ticket items that could be eliminated with some maintenance. Edit: and even a super clogged muffler screen could contribute. Before any of that, I would definitely be trying a different batch of gas/mix oil. Dump all the old out etc.
034- unlimited coil. I agree with the above… time to go through the fuel system. Also take the time to properly split the air filter and clean it. Replace if necessary. The fuel and impulse lines should be inspected. The impulse is just a piece of Stihl line behind the carb air box. The fuel filter can be fished out of the tank using long pliers, bailing wire, etc. Running issues with 1125 saws should immediately be investigated. They’re old now and all those rubber parts (including the carb gaskets and diaphragms) have a life expectancy.
If the fuel system (and compression… and bottom end) get fixed up, that saw will last another couple decades. Oh, and in the 20ish 1125s that I’ve been into, I’ve only found one dead coil. I’m one of the eBay lurkers who bid on used oem coils for this series. Aftermarket are junk.
And give that crank a good wiggle on the pto side. It’s probably tight, but I always start there and then fuel, compression, spark… in some sort of order
