Has anyone seen an episode where the pickers visited a multi generation family farm in Michigan? While showing the guys around, one of the farmers pointed out an old steam powered tractor inside a building.

He said when it became no longer functional as a tractor, his great-grandfather parked it and used the boiler to heat the house and the water. They had a mill also, so they just fed it scraps. Always warm an endless hot water. I wonder if that was the first outdoor boiler?

Outdoor boilers for heat and power existed long before the traction engine came about.

Seen the episode a few weeks ago. I was thinking something similar, very original idea and a man ahead of his time.
