Mystery axe....homemade hack?

    So I stopped by an Antique Mall yesterday and spotted this axe. Is this a factory axe or did someone hack this up in a garage? IMG_20200731_121305722.jpg

    It almost looks like a section was cut out. I have not seen a single bit axe head that looks like that. Possibly it was damaged or the side cracked out and the damage was cut out. I don't recognize the stamp.

    A little more grinding and you could have a Hudson Bay style axe.

    That's what bothered me. It could have been a Hudson Bay style axe but the hard corner seems to make it impractical. I don't recognize the double diamond Maker's Mark.
