Been a while since I've posted, I apologize but it's been a hectic month. We lost my grandfather two weeks back from a brief illness, but he was ready to be with my grandma. He lived 89 fantastic years and passed away in his sleep, so I'm grateful he didn't suffer.... I was off on vacation all last week, got a lot done splitting and stacking the 7 or 8 cord of locust I had laying here..... So this evening, we're gonna sit by the keyhole pit and enjoy some beverages and classic rock, a few mountain pies and the beautiful weather that just settled in thanks to a cold front. The humidity just dropped and it feels great outside!! All set up to enjoy the evening!! The keyhole in all its glory..... Getting near the end of the huge stack of locust rounds I had piled up, close to 8 cord.... The cord or so of hickory I still have yet to process.... The end of my big stack, currently refilling what I used last season. This entire end is locust! Two skids wide, the skids are 5.5' x 5.5'.... Another angle of the locust I've been working.....
Sorry for your loss Scotty, but at least now your grandma has another loved one as a companion. Enjoy the hard work and beautiful evening as I'm sure you will.
Sorry to hear of your grandpa passing Scotty. Condolences to you and the family. The cold front is making the weather bearable again. Great pics.
My deepest condolences to you and yours Scotty. I hope you have a great evening with the family. Your Grandpa is looking down and smiling. Proud, dam proud, of his grandson.
Thanks guys. We knew he was on limited time, so it wasn't totally unexpected. We will definitely miss him, but again, I'm so thankful he didn't suffer a long bout of misery. He was just diagnosed with cancer literally 4 weeks ago, but the doctors didn't tell him. They told my aunts, my dad and my uncle, he had a tumor the size of a lime in his lung, double pneumonia and some other issues...... He spent a total of 8 hours in the nursing home and died peacefully in his sleep the very first night. He had been saying for some time now he was ready to go whenever the Good Lord would have him.
My Condolences on your loss Scotty One heck of a cubicle you have Relaxing with some beverages by the fire sounds cool I touched off a small brush pile, just before dark, that was hot tamale
That's the big stack, it's around 11' x 5.5' x 75'. Which works out to 35.44 full cord. I have the smaller stack on the other side of the shop, it's 5.5' x 5.5' x 27'. Which works out to 6.5 full cord. Then there's the pile of hickory I have laying here to process.....lol. I'm sitting on close to 43 cord total......yeah, I've got a problem...lol
We both suffered losses recently Scotty Overkill, and both of us lost grandfathers..... I'm sorry for your loss, but thankful (as you said) that it wasn't a long, drawn out ordeal. Enjoy some cool weather down time, can't beat a fire in the keyhole with family surrounding you.
You gotta live up to your name man One of these days I might get some locust, never had any Hickory, Oak and Ash will have to do for now
Glad your grandfather didn't suffer Scotty...... and I can promise you this...... he's looking down from the heavens grinning at those stacks of yours, proud. A man of your stature and principle came down, generation to generation. God bless!
Yeah I saw yours passed away too. I'm sure he was very proud of his grandson too......I know I'm proud of ya...... Thoughts and prayers to you and yours too, bud......
Darn it Scotty, why'd you have to take it there, man? Thank you- I appreciate you saying so. I'm just thankful to be here
Well Hopefully all went well with the bonfire and evening outside, there Scotty... Your wood piles look awesome, with all that Locust.... Sorry to hear about your loss of your Grandfather, May the Lord rest his hand on your shoulder and give you comfort.
Sorry for your loss Scotty. He must have been a really great fellow to have been a part of a wonderful family like yours. 89 years! Imagine all he's seen. Now he's got a better view of your stacks too. I'm sure he's proud.
