So, as I said in the other thread I purchased the stove and it’s in the garage. Here’s a look at the firebox i pulled it out into the driveway and had the first fire I’m hoping to have it in the house this week.
Not knowing where my wood supply was at as far as moisture content goes I picked up a moisture meter. I pulled the largest red oak split and gave it a wack. Not great but it should work.
Look in your stove at the firebrick. The two firebrick that are in the rear of the stove with the angle should be at the front; no gap in the rear; the angle facing towards the front. Those two bricks should be the first ones in the top row at the front at the door.
In the pic the back corners look awful tight for a full brick. It's possible where the bricks go is dependent on the version/construct of the stove. With the smaller of the two Smart Stoves the bricks with notches might actually go on the back:
My stove arrived with all the bricks in place. Two bricks on the top row; first brick in the row at front of stove, had an angle like I saw in the photo of the stove and they were at the front of the stove. I didn't pay any attention to those bricks in my stove but when I saw them in the photo I am guessing they have that angle for a reason.
I picked up some stove pipe and a thermometer yesterday. When I went into Home Depot someone asked me if I needed help I said I was looking for stove pipe. He said he didn’t think they had any but had flexible dryer vent I hope he was joking but I doubt it. I’m off to the rental place in a bit.
As you can see by the stairs behind the stove I don’t care much about code! Please keep the code comments out of the thread.
Here it is on the power dolly that made it possible for myself and another guy to get it down the stairs.
Congrats on the new stove Warner! Its gonna be fun watching your progress as you learn how to run that new beast!
Yes, it is like having a fireplace and a stove all in one. I like sitting on the sofa watching the fire and drinking my coffee or cocoa. I often find myself nodding off to sleep it is so relaxing; even better when you have that someone special beside you. Did you see my post about the bricks with the angle corners?
Now to make a bit of a man cave down there; some nice chairs to relax and enjoy the view of the fire.
Yeah it was pretty simple, definitely still took two people. This one was pretty beat. so far the stove seems to throw some heat! I haven’t really run it hard yet tho. It is certainly different than the smoke dragon.
I found the door hitting the draft knob to be quite annoying m. So I pulled it off and stuck it in the vice to flatten it out some. That solved that.
