Bless them for doing so! I'm not sure I'd ever wanna try cutting down them fat ones full of dead hanging branches (more like medium sized trees). I love these trees and I love the firewood they make! Can we get some black Locust appreciation going on in here? Plant one if it isn't illegal where you live!
There's locust mania here in Connecticut. Myself, jo191145 & Eric Schamell have had it. It goes into remission, but can pop up suddenly should a locust score show up! Nice work there!
This is my first post been watching for years but I noticed you're from rochester...Alot of black locust around our parts... last house I was at that and pignut hickory was all I had(nice problem to have) just bought a new property and it has alot more assortment... red and white oak, black and honey locust, and black walnut and alot of cherry
Thanks Brad...hey Maladaptivemonkey where do you live in the area? I know you don't live in the city lol... there's a bunch of people in the area on this site buck55 or something like that if my memory serves me right is around here too
If you wish to tag someone Kevin use the "@" symbol in front of their name and they will get notified.
Thanks guys...I'm only 35 but the computer stuff is usually over my head(rather be in the woods). I'll do my own post another time so I don't highjack this thread...just wondering where MaladaptiveMonkey and Buck55 are from
Fellow Rochestarian here - OK…. Now in Hilton. That’s a NW suburb for you outsiders. Grew up in Cobbs Hill area. Anyways - Welcome! And about Black Locust - perhaps my Fav wood for the stove. I take all I can get.
Ha! This reply makes me very happy. We have such a bountiful land up here! I love western NY and upstate in general. Such a mild and abundant land tbh. I got tons of shagbark where I am but I've never seen a pignut in my entire life. I have an abundance of white oak, apple, pear, hawthorne and black locust as well, plus tons of box elder to mix in and get things going quick. Hardwood paradise tbh!
