Here is the stove installed. I couldnt be happier how it looks.

That is 3.5 inches of bluestone. It was unbelievably heavy.

Beautiful stove! I live the colors!

Could be the picture, but do you have enough clearance to the combustible floor on the sides? Check your data plate on the back to be sure.

    Thanks!

Yes, i am at exactly 6 inches from the stove sides per the manual.

I also have a .5 inches of cementboard under the slab to give me the .41 minimum r-value.

Did something horrible happen to the bottom of the stove pipe?

Pretty, that will keep you warm and toasty!

I'm amazed sometimes when I see one of these IS stoves in real life how big they are because when I see a picture like this one it doesn't convey that muscle bound size these stoves are.

It's beautiful! I like the unobtrusive and elegant installation. It's easy to go overboard with stone walls and elaborate layouts, when simpler can also be very pleasing to the eye.

It's beautiful, and especially with the nice view I'm sure you have out the big window!

Yes, sadly it is a "reclaimed" stove pipe.

I plan on clipping the metal lip off and painting soon.

Its a nice piece well done! Im guessing that when the stove is on a slab of something the clearances for combustibles are reduced to nothing? Ive just never seen a hearth that small!

That is a beautiful yet simple install! I really like it. I love the darker floors too.

Pictures truly dont do the size of these stoves justice. I had laid out the footprint of my hearth as well as the IS & AS on my floor in tape. Wasnt sure if the IS would be too big or not, but still really wanted one. Then I stopped at the rest area on RT89 and saw that damm moose stove and my dream ended there. It really is a huge stove!

They are HUGE! But even the Absolute isn't a small stove at all. I was really surprised, as I figured after the IS was introduced that the logical step might be a stove 2/3s or slightly smaller in size. But the AS really isn't all that much smaller. They are Big Boys for sure. :)

Ha-ha! I had to laugh because last year, two of my boys & I were headed for a factory tour in Lebanon. We stop at that rest area for a bathroom break & thought we were already at the Woodstock Co. :)

The AS is definitely not small! It's front and center when you walk into my house. While it has the same footprint as the VC fireplace that it replaced, it is so much bigger.

Contrats on the new stove and the new installation.

It is a very nice stove and quite a few of us have one. A pretty good amount of collective knowledge around here about that stove so hopefully someone (or many) can throw out a few comments if you have questions or just want to chat about the stove.

The very best of luck with it!

I was on my way up for the factory tour when I saw it as well. First time Id ever gone into that rest stop. I have stopped in the parking lot to do some quick work before, but usually stop at the VT welcome center for the coffee. I looked at it, and my heart sank when I realized that it truly was as big as people had mentioned.

Do they actually use it to heat there? Or is it just on display?
