An update on my life: The week before Christmas I was ill with a fever, headache, body aches, inability to retain food/drink (everything that went in came out in short order). Home test indicated I was positive for covid. Those conditions resolved but I was having issues breathing. I did not notice it as much as my wife did. Called my primary doc who recommended going to the hospital. Was admitted to hospital the day after Christmas. They confirmed I had covid, and that my oxygen levels were low, so they put me on high flow oxygen due to pneumonia (brought on by covid). I was there for the next two weeks. Went through three courses of treatment for covid (one was IV, the other two were in pill form). Covid resolved but oxygen levels were still concerning (due to the pneumonia and my lungs). Over the course of my stay things improved and the oxygen flows were reduced. I came home on 9 Jan. 2022 and have been resting and rehabbing since (and keeping the fires going!). I was fortunate in that I never was in the ICU, never on a ventilator or any other form of mechanical breathing apparatus, etc. Just oxygen. My situation has been slowly and consistently improving but not back to 100%. Had an appointment with my primary care doc last week and my lungs sounded great, but he said it would take time for them to heal. I resumed work Monday (working from home, remotely). All things considered, I am fortunate.
So glad to hear you made it through. Friend of mine ended up with pneumonia after covid and he didn't make it.
Glad it resolved for you. In my opinion, this is a good reference for what is going on in your body with this blood/vascular disease. Get well!! 574.1 KB file on MEGA
Good to hear it never progressed to the point of needed a vent! You are fortunate. My ICU nurse wife cared for covid patients since the beginning, and kept her [and us] safe and free from it with proper PPE. FF to x-mas break and our daughter brought it home from college. Wife got it and is still recovering. It triggered pre-existing asthma issues. So the vid came and went (wasn't too bad and we contribute that to being vaxed and boosted) and me and my son never got it. No hospital stays thankfully. She stayed masked up and constantly wipes off surfaces around the house. Many moons ago (over 10 years), I spent 4-5 days in the hospital with pneumonia so I kind know how you must have felt. I waited way too long to go in, it was to a point I felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest! I had a severe dislike of needles/shots before that, but after getting at least 2 a day, I no longer give 2 craps when someone sticks me.
Great to hear about your recovery. Covid is so frustrating. So many have few issues but then it can be so serious for others.
Glad your feeling better Buck55. I would say give it plenty of time and don't push it, even when you think you're in the clear. It took a long while for me to be able to do much of anything....even small tasks got to me quickly, and I didn't end up with pneumonia (that I know of...). Some days I think I still feel some remnants.
Just curious if you were given Remdisivir (spelling) My 76yo mom at the time went to the hospital July 2020 due to covid. Dissolved oxygen was down in the low to mid 80's. After her first shot of it, she said she felt improvement within 30 minutes. Spent 6 days in the hospital all together and is now fine thankfully. Pretty much everyone else I know (myself included) weren't very sick at all.
Yes, I had the that through the IV. THe other two I had (in pill forms) were baricitinib and dexamethasone.
Good to hear you made it past the worst of it. It went through my house in March of 2020. Now just today I found out I’ve got it again, along with my younger son. What drives me up a wall is I wasn’t feeling well on Friday, so I left work and got tested at a CVS. It came back negative. I went back to work on Saturday, then Monday, and today thinking I just had a cold. Today my throat was really starting to hurt so I went and bought an OTC test to be on the safe side. Sure enough I’ve got the virus. Silly me for trusting the science behind the first test. I didn’t realize I was supposed to intuitively know to retest afterwards.
So glad you were able to whip that thing! Now keep that stove stocked up! Good news is a warmup coming next week.
Glad your feeling better, so many have been affected by this pandemic. Give yourself time to heal and recover.
So glad you are getting better. I couldn’t get off the couch for three days and tested negative, two weeks later my wife tested positive and felt fine.
I had it first week of Jan, had ivermectin on hand took it right away and stopped the virus in its tracks before it had time to go after my lungs. Glad your on the mend Buck55
Buck55 glad you are on the mend! Preprint trials suggest oral swab/saliva may be able to diagnose Omicron 1-2 days earlier than nasal swabs. Swab Nose, Throat, or Both for COVID-19 Rapid Tests? To all a couple quick things #1 take care of yourself #2 local healthcare providers usually will make the best recommendations for you #3 a lot of what you hear is propaganda (both sides) #4 preexisting conditions increase your risk (see #1) #5 Covid is a nasty bug I’ve been fighting in animals for 20 years, this is unlikely to “go away” #6 Keep encouraging one another, keep heating with Wood, keep you racks full, don’t let distractions and interruptions distract you from your purpose on earth!!!
