Went out this afternoon for a smalload of big rounds. Electric company took down this mulberry a month back or so and the little old lady that lives there was just asking for donations. We gave a little bit and let the tommy gate do the heavy lifting. Had a cute little helper too, she actually wanted to come help. It was nice to have my daughter around to help. She just likes running the gate switch. Also got a stack of silver maple done thats been split for over a month and sitting in a couple different trailers. Dang good weekend. The stack on thr left is debarked black locust. Lots of extra work peeling the bark for an irrational fear of letting some boring beatles infect all my trees.

That’s as big as I’ve seen. My boys like hearing it pop when burning.

That’s strange from my experience, they say the drier it is the less it pops, but at 18% it pops like crazy. I like it.

Love those mulberry rounds! I peel my locust too, either fresh cut, or after it's been sitting awhile. Partly because of the bugs( although I think insects are particular to the species of wood they infest), partly to save space, and partly because the bark smells bad when it burns.

Thats interesting to know that the barks smells bad. Is the black locust particularly smelly? Havent burnt any yet, the only stuff i have is probably for 2023 season.
