I intended to do this last weekend but bed was too warm on a Sunday morning. Woke up early (groan) and got to the area and NO TRAFFIC! it was weird! A few cars while i was there. Parked just up from the logs. The locust averaged 14" diameter and yielded 6.5 rounds. No flip flip or hand truck. Bucked in place and backed truck up. Cut a couple of the nice cherry logs there but left the two gnarly logs. Found an oak log on top of the hill, bucked and took that too. Couple other locust pieces too.
While finishing up i noticed a few partly buried locust logs from prior work. Too dirty and frozen to grab now. Maybe ill consider those for the quest?
Rather than add to my prior post Funny Coincidence about this, I started a new one.

But sounds like it was anticlimactic......didn’t live up to the hype. But you got it done, good job

I was humming the mission impossible theme to and from the score...seriously! Only climactic thing was a cop going by just as i was nearing completion. I was waiting for him to come back, but never did. I was cutting right next to a light and there was three cars stopped at one point. Funny thing was all my "high visibility" sweatshirts were in the washer. My trademark these days is to be wearing one. I forgot to put them in the dryer last night. I had my Winter work coat on which i almost never use.
The log was bigger and i got some cherry and oak so that was a plus!

Good job, it's always nice when you set out to do something and you can get it accomplished. :woodsign::fire:

You are a sick man, buZZsaw BRAD ! I suggest you reflect on these compulsions you have. I usually do my best reflections while working firewood .... oh, wait, nevermind, carry on!

Good deal Brad. Now you can sleep without the “one that got away” haunting your dreams.

Good that you got that. Don't you just love the grain of oak and cherry? Pretty wood.

yup. It was weird at 8am yesterday. No traffic. Busiest it got was 3 cars waiting at that light.
I was going to carve a "ZZ" on the end of one of the gnarly cherry logs...kinda like Zorro did with his sword!
The mark of "buZZsaw"
Was there dirt still in the road? I dropped a couple of the locust rounds on the pavement to knock it out of the hollow center.
Any other species of wood i wouldnt have gone for it.

Yes still looked fresh and just a faint smell of two stroke lingering in the air.

There’s not many roadside scores around here that sit for four years. I can’t believe you left a BL sitting there for that long. Outrageous behavior.
The double ZZ’s would have been cool. That should become a habit even if you have to leave a round behind to do it.
Congratulations on the procrastination paying off tho, always good to see one of my favorite strategies working out well :)

ohh, I got confused because you just posted in the other thread from 2020 about it and thought you finally got it. Didn’t realize this thread was old too.
Four years of roadside Z’s that coulda woulda shoulda been down the drain.
