I'm no pro when it comes to sharpening chainsaw chains so maybe this has been covered already.

I tried using a marker to mark the beginning point of where I started but it was hard to keep it marked and often would lose it, thanks to the oily surface or poor lighting, so I did this instead.

After sharpening the first tooth I grabbed a twist tie and wrapped it around it.

I'm sure there's other ways but it was simple, and schlot likes simple! :)

That's a gooder idea. I usually can tell when the sharpened cutter comes back around. But on those longer chains it would be nice to see how much is left at a glance sometimes.

Usually a quick wipe with a rag and marker will stick, but your way works without a marker, or a rag!

I like the marker idea. A red sharpie would probably stand out. Either that or a little white out.

All my chains have 2 teeth in a row on the same side in one spot. Thats where I start and end.

I use a yellow paint marker. Sticks out like a sore thumb.

I found that black sharpy has a way of disapearing, I have a red one that's more of a paint marker that works very well.
Never thought of the wire tie thing, that looks good.

I just mark the cutters with blood. That way I know which ones are sharp. :p:doh:

I wipe the tooth off with a rag, then use a red sharpie. So far, so good.
