20201001_163932.jpg Finally got to splitting these maple blocks on Saturday. They split like red oak. So clean, straight and easy. Splitter wedge went in about an inch, and they popped open. I wish there was more. And it smelled slightly of vanilla, like white oak. 20201017_173032.jpg

Gotta admit, I’d swear that is white oak. Looks just like it to me. The rounds anyway.

I was thinking that too when I saw the add. The only leaves on the ground were maple. I will have to get some up close pics of the splits. I know particular species can have differences. I have had both light and dark colored ash, and ash that was extremely stringy, and alot that splits like a dream.
